The Great Debate

No. Not politics. I'll leave that for other people, places and Tribe's where that rages daily.

There's a general core of regulars in here who pipe up, add colorful commentary, and in general add fun and merriment to this whole Drub Tribe experiment. I really thank those of you who do!

And then there's so many social networking sites have popped up here and there, I can hardly keep track of which ones have the most sexual predators. MySpace, D-List, Friendster, Facebook, Orcut, Tribe, Ning (what the fuck is a Ning?), Punkrockers.com, OopsICrappedMyPants and so on and so forth...

Yawn... where was I? I made the last one up. Sorry, scat boys!

Oh! Oh, yeah.

I either need a serious break from all this online b.s., I need to stop coming on here so damn much, or I just need to shut this stuff down. I've got a site that I hope all of you enjoy from time to time and a blog that I maintain rather regularly (if not daily) so I'm kind of at a cross roads - do I turn off the lights, save a ton of time, get back to making more art and living life, or continue something maybe 10-20 of you read and hang out in regularly. I just am wondering if this is really worth bothering with as it's starting to all wear me out. Spring is here and I want to be outside as well.

I just got word that Issue #3 is heading to press very shortly and will be available soon. Davey and Justin graciously asked me to contribute a story and you can check it out in there as soon as it comes out. I'm really looking forward to seeing it in print along with the crazy horny stories these two came up with.

I'll be letting y'all know when it's out there so you can all get your mits on some comics so you can stick the pages together.

I got some cool email today from some interesting folks and it gave me pause for thought.

You're all here because you like some of the work I do. That's a given...
but I was wondering - Do any of you collect erotic art? Who do you have? What is the subject matter? And where do you display the art?

Myself, I've commissioned work from artists Player and Palanca, and I've been given some work by some other folks in comics and who are relative unknowns.

Let's just get this straight, as I don't pull any punches (as many of you can attest to from the dealings you've had with me on here, in real life, or the writing I have on my personal website), this is pretty much a "vanity tribe" on my part. I'm not going to make any excuses for that. It's a forum for me to basically talk about myself and what artwork stuff I've got going on. I know it's narcissistic, but it's a fun way to reach lots of people who appreciate, like, or want to keep tabs on what stuff is going on. A shameless tool I use for marketing. If you didn't like the way I roll, you wouldn't be here.

It's also a great place to talk about erotica, art work, gallery spaces, toss around ideas, and anything tangentially related to my work and the work of other members.

There are plenty of other tribes out there to post your contest image, your art, others art, etc. Please do that there, unless it has something to do with a topic you've started, a question you've possed or some discussion on hand. Because of the abuse of something I see as a very strong given, if you want to post an image, you have two choices:

1 - Either ask permission to do so, but also bring some reason to do so.
2 - Or start a thread to allow other people to understand where you are coming from and why you are posting it in a tribe called "Drub's Erotic Art".

Failure to comply will get you booted from this tribe. If you have questions to this, feel free to start a healthy debate on it here or email me privately if you don't want to do that publically.

Things I feel that are permissible, but not limited to these, are all topics that relate to my work, the erotic art of other members, themes explored in said work, subcultures, skinheads, punks, rockabillies, working class men, fetishes, sex, the art world, magazines and other media, comic books, etc. BUT please bring to the table some reason to do so, otherwise you will be seen in the same light as all the buxom, blonde hookers who try to add me as "friends" on MySpace with nary a hello - one that always gets knocked out.

Thanks, and sorry if this seems like I'm coming off like a jerk, but these are things that I thought were crystal clear and didn't need to be said. Life is about choice and if you don't like the ones you've been given, feel free to remove yourself from this tribe.

The Other White... Cake?

People have commissioned some crazy pieces, bought stuff specifically for their play rooms and bed rooms, and even tattooed it on their bodies - but never have they taken a piece of mine and made it into a cake.

I think it's brilliant! One of the guys who is a co-owner of the Denver Eagle had a birthday. He is a fan and from what his friends figured out... a big one and what a better gift to give than this. Check out the gallery.

Clothing as Kink

I've noticed with the past few subjects here on this Tribe have been toward clothing. I know that in my artwork, as well as in my *ahem* personal time, that what a guy wears and the various states of partial undress really lends itself to a narrative/scene/etc.

I did "Chemistry" as an editorial illustration for Freshmen magazine. I've also done stuff for Instigator, pro bono, but I'm looking at making cash so I don't have to eat ramen noodles.
